Sangiovese is Italy's most widely planted grape variety, most notably associated with the region of Tuscany. You'll find Sangiovese in some of Italy's biggest wines, such as Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino, and Super Tuscans. Sangiovese is high in tannins and acidity and produces full-bodied wines. Expect intense and concentrated flavours of black cherry, plum, blackberry, redcurrant, herbs, truffles, liquorice, and spice. Sangiovese wines develop greater complexity with age.
