Falanghina is an ancient grape variety native to Campania and grown extensively across southern Italy. Like so many native varieties, Falanghina was wavering on extinction by the 1970s but, thankfully, was saved by visionary winemakers. This grape works well when fermented in stainless steel. As a varietal wine, it is vivid and refreshing with aromas of wildflowers, acacia blossom, honeysuckle, citrus, and tropical fruits. Detectable flavours include apple, pear, lemon, lime, pineapple, banana, kiwi, candied peel, and mineral notes with a subtle spice.
