Dolcetto is a traditional Italian red wine grape from Piedmont. Although Dolcetto is now grown outside Italy, it is mostly planted in the Monferrato area. Dolcetto grapes tend to ripen early and can be grown in cooler, less favourable locations making Dolcetto wines more affordable compared to Nebbiolo wines. Relatively low in acidity with medium to high tannins, Dolcetto wines tend to be dry, boasting aromas of plum and red berries with hints of bitter almonds and herbs.
