Tenuta Viglione's elegantly dry and floral Verdeca stands above other dry whites. This Verdeca displays an intense bouquet of herbs with citrus and peach hints. The palate is hit with a refreshing minerality accompanied by notes of candied lemon peel and apple. This is all finished off perfectly by a crisp, fresh finish. Drink now.
Tenuta Viglione's Verdeca grapes are mechanically harvested towards the end of September. The fermentation process and ageing all take place in steel tanks, which maintain the freshness and aromatic qualities of the wine.
Tenuta Viglione, Puglia
Tenuta Viglione, started by Giovanni Zullo in 1937, to this day remains in the same family and the current generation of the Zullo family are now preparing their children to take over the baton. Tenuta Viglione's vineyards sit in the Murgian Hills between 300 and 500 meters above sea level, which is high for Puglia. The soils here are formed of clay and limestone and are mineral-rich.
Verdeca is a white grape grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Taranto and Bari in Puglia. Verdeca was mainly grown for the production of Vermouth but has now found its way into blended and varietal wines. The best varietal examples are aromatic with mixed citrus flavours.
