Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi is the wine of choice for all dry white wine lovers. Made entirely from Cortese grapes grown around the town of Gavi, where the finest examples of Gavi are produced. This is a delightfully light-bodied wine. Delicately scented with aromas of orange, passion fruit, and honeysuckle. Prominent flavours of citrus fruit and hints of sherry pleasure the taste buds. On the palate, it is crisp and fresh with a pleasantly dry mineral finish. Drink now to 2025.
The Cortese grapes used to make this Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi are hand-harvested in late September and lightly pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks only. The wine is then left to refine on the lees for approximately six months before bottling.
Cortese is a traditional Italian grape variety almost exclusively grown in Piedmont and in some parts of Lombardy and Veneto. Widely acclaimed, Cortese is the grape used to produce world-famous Gavi wines. A capricious and labour intensive grape, Cortese is mainly used in single varietal wines but can also be found in blended wines. High in acidity with a distinctive minerality, Cortese wines typically have citrus fruit flavours with herbaceous and flowery notes.
