Only a small portion of this Cannonau di Sardegna DOC has been aged in oak, which has helped to preserve the typical aroma profile of the Cannonau (Grenache) grape. This wine is bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, and blackberries accompanied by delicate undertones of roses and white pepper. On the palate, there's concentration and soft tannins with a hint of white pepper on the finish. Drink now to 2025.
Antonella Corda's Cannonau grapes are all picked by hand at the beginning of September. 90% of the wine is aged in steel tanks with the remainder being aged in two-year-old and new French oak.
Antonella Corda, Sardinia
Antonella Corda is the granddaughter of the renowned viticulturist, Antonio Argiolas. When Antonio passed on at the age of 104 he left to Antonella two of his most prized vineyards located around the village of Serdiana. Here the mild climate and rich calcareous soils give the wines a unique character and freshness. Antonella's vineyards are farmed organically.
Cannonau, known as Garnacha in Spain and Grenache in France, is naturally low in tannins and acidity but big in body and fruitiness. It shows distinct aromas of white pepper with flavours of red fruit accompanied by spicy notes of clove and liquorice. The best examples show flavours of blackcurrants, black olives, coffee, leather, and tar.
