This is one classy Nero di Troia from Cantine Massimo Leone. Time in French oak has transformed this Nero di Troia into a deliciously rich wine with a powerful character. It's bursting with elegant aromas of fruit, jam, and spices. On the palate, it's plummy, smooth with soft round tannins and a lingering spice-infused finish. Deliciously moreish. Drink now to 2025.
Once the grapes have been hand-harvested, there follows a prolonged maceration of 27 days in stainless steel. Maturation and ageing take place in French oak and finally bottles.
Cantine Massimo Leone, Puglia
Cantine Massimo Leone's vineyards are in the sun-baked centre of the Tavoliere delle Puglie, Italy's second-largest plain. Their goal is quality and to achieve this they tend to their vines, pruning and destemming to encourage low yields and optimal ripening of their grapes.
Nero di Troia (Uva di Troia)
Nero di Troia, also known as Uva di Troia, has been somewhat overshadowed by Negroamaro and Primitivo, the two dominant red grape varieties of Puglia. However, Nero di Troia produces some of the best and most appealing wines in the region and deserves more attention than it currently receives.
