Kurtin, Friuli Venezia Giulia
Kurtin, a small family vineyard, was founded in 1906 and has been handed down through the generations for the last 100 years. Winemaking only began in the 1970s and today Kurtin counts a mere 11 hectares of vineyards producing only 60,000 bottles of wine per year.
Cabernet Franc is an indigenous French red wine grape that was planted in Italy in the late 1800s. Widely planted in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Cabernet Franc wines are usually light-bodied and fragrant with notes of red fruit, herbs and underwood. Cabernet Franc, one of the parent grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, is used either in single varietal wines or blends and has low tannins and good acidity.
