Colombini's Chianti Superiore DOCG is a unique wine made in the heart of Tuscany by an all-female team. Cold nights and warm days create a brilliant ruby red wine with a fine aroma rich with notes of red berries and violets. This Chianti Superiore DOCG is full-bodied, round and warm with good persistence and has an excellent balance between tannins and fruit. Drink now to 2025.
Donatella Cinelli Colombini is Italy's first all-female run winery. The estate, which has been in Donatella’s family since the early 1900s, spreads across 336 hectares on the hills opposite Montalcino. 34 of these 336 hectares are planted with vines, mainly Sangiovese, Merlot and Traminer.
The Sangiovese grape is the most widely planted red grape variety, particularly in central Italy, with 71,500 hectares under vine. Sangiovese is often referred to as the Tuscan grape. Wines made purely with Sangiovese tend to be light-bodied, high in acidity, fairly tannic with cherry, plum, dried herbs, and peppery notes. Savgiovese's natural characteristics make it incredibly suitable for oak ageing.
